Terms and Conditions

Terms & Conditions of Booking

Bookings are accepted subject to completion and signing of the booking form accompanied by a deposit of £100 per berth, or £400 for the whole boat. Telephone bookings will be accepted but must be followed within 7 days by a written and signed application with deposit.

Payment of a deposit confirms a booking. It is non-returnable. Cheques should be made payable to “Crystal Sailing School”. Payments can be made by bank transfer, please email or phone for details. The full fee is due 6 weeks before your course is due to begin.

Cancellations. If you cancel, every effort will be made to fit you in on another week, but this cannot be guaranteed.

Non-availability. Your money will be returned in full if a course has to be cancelled. There will be no further liability to Crystal Sailing School.  It may be possible to find you a place with another Sea School if you want that option. This may arise through a large problem with the serviceability of the vessel that cannot be fixed, or with the staffing being unavailable due to exceptional circumstance.

Insurance. You are advised to have your own holiday insurance to cover personal effects with a cancellation policy to cover your cruise. The vessel and the instructor are both fully covered. Crystal Sailing School cannot accept responsibility for loss, damage or injury to persons or their property during a course.

Tuition Courses. A course will be run if there are two or more people booked one month before commencing. Maximum student/instructor ratio is 5:1.

Age limit. The minimum age is 18 on a berth filled boat and 10 on a whole boat booking.

Disclaimer. The instructor’s decision is final.

Requirements. You are required to bring sailing boots, sleeping bags and waterproof outer clothing. Do not splash out on gear if the sport is new to you. We do have a limited number of waterproofs and boots for hire. A list of suggestions as to what you should bring is available by email.

Discounts. The only discounts given are; when the whole boat is booked you get 5 berths for the price of 4. If you book at the back end of a year for the following season you will pay the price set for that year.

Complaints If you have a complaint firstly make this known to your instructor at the time or soon after. The next step it to make it known to David Lyle as school principal, in writing if possible. If this does not get the response you want then contact the RYA training department. training@rya.org

Refund Policy

A full refund will be made where a sailing course is cancelled due to circumstances beyond the control of Crystal Sailing School. As much prior notice as is reasonably possible will be given.

Where a course is cancelled by the client no refund will be given in respect of the standard £100.00 deposit, unless such cancellation is given at least 60 days in advance of the course. A refund of the balance will only be given where Crystal Sailing School is able to re-book the cancelled course. Crystal Sailing School will endeavour to do so as a matter of priority.
